1677 AD - One land deed of 1677 lists 100 Jew's Harps among the items given as payment for a tract of Indian land. I started playing the khomus when I was ten years old, when I studied at school and lived in the village of Tabaga, where a famous blacksmith S.I. Gogolev-Amynniyky lived and worked.
I don't. It is undesirable, because you can disturb reed vibration by chance. I always choose a khomus with a suitable gap. Actually it is better to have several concert khomuses. Because a khomus with low sounding sounds longer and suits temperate playing. Quick playing needs a khomus with high tone.
Clothes. If you are coming here from abroad during the winter, you will find that your clothes are insufficiently warm. Russians and Yakuts know a thing or two about keeping warm, so Yakutsk is a fine place to pick up a coat or some fur lined boots. The cheapest options, and they are very affordable, are without a doubt in the city markets, Stolichny (Столичный) and Mann'yttayah (Манньыаттаах). To avoid the stresses of haggling and "foreigner" pricing, you can pay a bit more in any of the shops and boutiques in the small downtown commercial center along Lenin Prospect, like Atlant (Атлант), Optimist (Оптимист), Favorit (Фаворит), Apel'sin (Апельсин), and many others.

The frames can be elliptical or round, with protruding "ribs" and additional resonating cavities. The size of the instrument also varies: Ethnographers have described drums as big as a person, weighing dozens of kilograms, as well as 50-centimeter drums.
We have positioned the long and short tines alternately to ensure ease of playing and in accordance with acoustic criteria. The six shorter tines have been bent so that their ends are raised above the level of the longer ones so that they can easily be reached by the thumbs. When playing from the low to the high tones, the five long tines are plucked alternately by the thumbs beginning in the middle and moving outwards - the right thumb begins on Tine No. 6 - then the six shorter tines follow, also played from the middle outwards, whereby the left thumb begins on Tine No. 5.

Jason Keene doing a beautiful rendition of "Have you met Mr Jones?" using a flute patch in Logic. I'm pretty sure there's a jew's harp in Once upon a time in the West, Sergio Leone, 1968. Grip the harp. Use a light grip with your thumb and index finger around the frame. Make sure that the trigger is facing away from your face. The trigger is the part of the harp that protrudes from the reed in the center.
